  • One knitter came from Kansas to knit at the shop.
  • Then book of the week is Men in Knits by Tara Jon Manning at 25% off the retail price. If you don't have a man to knit for, you can knit one for me, Jerry. Talk with me on Friday for colors.
  • Jerry got a nickname. What was it?
  • Jill had two wonderful girls at the kids knitting which takes place 4-6 every Monday.

book of the week

Good Monday Morning All...
The book of the week this week 9/26 is Men in Knits by Tara Jon Manning. Making a sweater that a man will wear - more than once! - is a challenging undertaking, to say the least. Although they may not want to admit it, guys are picky about their clothes. Men in Knits is meant to provide you with all the tools for making the right choices in fit, color, fiber and style. Once you are sure of these details, every sweater will be enjoyable for you to knit and a joy for the men in your life to wear.

Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!

to your favorite LYS! We've got lots of fun events coming up!

Monday 9/26 6-8 is the Monthly Meeting/Potluck/Knitting Nite Out or whatever you'd like to call it. Come, bring a dish to share and talk and knit and eat and talk and knit and eat... See all the wonderful new yarns in the shop. Lily Chin Yarn has arrived. Louisa Harding Yarns have arrived. Rowan and the Rowan books are all about. Be sure to see the new patterns and books. There are great designs for knitters this fall!

Friday 9/30 the Knitwitters meet at the shop beginning at 10 and leave when they're tired.

Saturday and Sunday 10/1 and 10/2 is the Knit Retreat! Imagine knitting all day and being around wonderful yarns and fabulous people who knit? Please call the shop and let us know you're coming. 614-888-8551. Details are in the newsletter which should have/be arriving in your mail or email soon.

At the shop on Saturday, Barbara wore this beautiful shawl she made.

The pattern (I'll ask Barbara to post which pattern she used) called for Silk Garden doubled. Sounds easy enough, right? Nope. Because they aren't wound in the same colors in the color way for each skein.

Wanting the perfect color matching, Barbara pulled out skeins of the Silk Garden so she could line the color way up. She trimmed the shaw in Manos. The result is amazing! Barbara recommends buying an extra skein to help match up! Yes, we have Silk Garden and Manos in the shop if you're feeling adventurous and want to give the shawl a try. Aren't those colors perfect on Barbara?

Just in case you needed a reason to come to the shop, here's a peek of the Lily Chin Collection on the shelves. Jill did a great job of getting them on the shelves. She's right about the pattern books. They're quite nice.

And here's a close up of some of the colors. . The top shelve is the Greenwich Village and has a wonderful sheen to the yarn. The second shelve has the Central Park on it.

That's right. On Wednesday, Sept 21, 6-8 is the Men's Night. Know a man that knits or would like to learn to knit? Bring him to the store. Staff will be available to help to teach knitting if needed. If no one arrives by 6:30, we'll be disappointed enough to leave early.

Today a new member joined the Merc family. Most of you probably know Jerry already. He spent so much time here that we finally decided to put him to work. He'll be working evenings and weekends when he's available -- so stop in to say hi (and be sure to ask him plenty of challenging questions to break him in).

Lily Chin is here!
